Op donderdag 28 februari 2008 zal het cultuurprogramma LUX xl (Canvas -VRT) een fragment vertonen uit de onlangs op DVD verschenen documentaire Lomax the Songhunter. Zanger Gabriel Rios heeft dit fragment als gast van het programma uitgekozen.

Rogier Kappers geinterviewd door Jude Rodgers in The Guardian, 1 februari 2008:
'I hope the documentary shows people the experiences you can have when you're exploring folk music. There's one I come back to often that's also in the film. I'm in the small living room of a Sicilian man as an incredibly mournful folk song, recorded by Alan over 60 years ago, is starting to soar from the speakers. I watch this middle-aged man hear his late father's emotional tenor, see his eyes fill up, and feel mine do the same. To me, that moment captures what all documentary should aim to do: capture moments that are just as real, profound and truthful.' Lomax the Songhunter wint Gouden Kalf



Afgelopen vrijdag nam Rogier Kappers voor Lomax the Songhunter het Gouden Kalf voor Beste Nederlandse Lange Documentaire van de Nederlandse Film 2005 in ontvangst op het Nederlands Film Festival te Utrecht.

Het Jury rapport meldt:

"BESTE LANGE DOCUMENTAIRE
De registratie van een zoektocht is een veel gebruikt middel in documentaires. In de prijswinnende documentaire krijgt dit middel een nieuwe betekenis want deze zoektocht laat een hoopvol en blij gevoel bij je achter.

Het Gouden Kalf voor Beste Lange Documentaire 2005 gaat naar LOMAX THE SONGHUNTER van Rogier Kappers."

We zijn vol trots en blijdschap voor iedereen die betrokken was, van harte gefeliciteerd!

Lomax the Songhunter zal ook te zien zijn op het Cork Film Festival.
